The Dayton B2B recently published an article of mine on Social Media policies, whether employers should have them, what they might look like, etc. To read it, click here.
The Dayton B2B also recently began publishing a series that David Bowman and I are doing on social media. David writes on one side about the business implications, and I write on the other side about the legal implications. Each month there will be a new article. Our first article is here.
Please let me know what you think of the articles and what ideas you want to see covered in future articles.

I was at the Beavercreek Krogers today and saw a man with white hair riding his shopping cart back to his car, just like this kid. Its just a reminder that you are never too old to experience the joy in life. Wheeeeee!

David Bowman has a great blog post on this.
“Noted sales author Jeffrey Gitomer stated the value of friends like this. ”All things being equal, people want to do business with their friends.” ”All things being not so equal, people STILL want to do business with their friends.” ”Connecting is all about your friendliness, your ability to engage, and your willingness to give value first.” Note that the book that this was taken from, The Little Black Book of Connections, is not even about social media, yet it is directly applicable.”

There have been some good articles in Vanity Fair over the past months outlining how we got into this economic mess. Like with any article, you have to read through characterizations of facts and examine the facts for themselves, but these help explain just how these problems could actually have happened:
- Fannie Mae
- Capitalist Fools
- Bringing Down Bear Stearns

The Epilepsy Foundation will host its 2nd annual Mardi Gras Gala at the Dayton Convention Center on February 24, 2009 at 6:30pm-11:00pm. This year, our honorees, Neil and Tera Arthur (Dayton Business Journal) will be crowned by our outgoing King and Queen.
I AM CO-CHAIRING THE SILENT AUCTION TEAM! CAN YOU DONATE? Let me know.
Ideas for what to donate:
- Lunch with you!
- A day shadowing you!
- A basket of goodies
- A certificate for a good or service (spa, movies, gift certificates)
- Nice things you got for Christmas but can’t use (like that aunt that bought you a massage package but you don’t like people touching you — make sure the certificate is transferable first).
- Crafts you or someone you know produces and would like to sell
- Things people would like to buy for their sweeties for post-Valentines Day treat or Easter basket
- Know someone sought after– get something with their autograph or a good/service from them
- A set of business books or tapes you think someone else might like to buy as a set
- Anything else you can think of (please – a $40 or more value)
